Here it is.. the Grand Prix Trophy for the Singapore F1 race taking place here this weekend.
To me.. it looks like a bunch of exhaust pipes glued together. I don't like it.
It's a bit annoying... Singapore... always trying to outdo everyone else. We have to do it bigger, better, more avant garde... cos we're Singapore!
I guess the short man syndrome (when a short man tries to out do everyone to compensate for his lack in height) and the smell penis syndrome ( where a man buys a huge car to .... you get what I mean)... I guess it doesn't apply to just human beings... it applies to whole countries too! My Country!
What do you think??

Haha... was lmfao when I saw your entry. I've been telling everyone how ugly the trophy is since the day I saw it in the papers.
ReplyDeleteAiiiyyyOOOOooo..
ReplyDeleteThat's the ugliest Trophy I have Ever seen!!
Better give the old cup like trophy..
I am sure the F1 driver will not mind on how the trophy looks with the championship so tightly contested. I am looking forward for an interesting race rather than the trophy
ReplyDeleteYeah – if you're saying that Singapore sometime obsesses too much about its shortcomings, then agree.
ReplyDeletePersonally I couldn't give a toss that Singaporeans aren't on average that creative - they make up for it in other respects. Hearing constant requests from S’pore government for Singaporeans to be more creative shows just how little they really understands about what drives genuine creativity.
Hi Borneo Falcon.. agreed.. people aren't going to the race to see the trophy... :)
ReplyDeleteBut is is an icon, it carries significance... if it were not important, then why have a torphy. Just take a piece of paper and write "1St Prize!" on it.. tht should do yeah?
:D ha...
Do you know the Trophies are made by Royal Selangor Pewter? I went to their factory and seen it even before the organizer released it in the news.
ReplyDeleteIt looks nicer in the flesh, and all those pieces are supposed to recall the chequered flag motif. I think the trophies given out at Santander-sponsored races like the Italian Grand Prix were uglier.
