Adults Only- Road trip SG - Malacca - KL

Gahhh... this happened a month ago but I had no time to blog. So here it is... a sort of photo purge + captions. (Feel free to ask me any qns about the trip)
Drove up both couples in one car

We make it a point to have a quarterly couples night out with out with G & M. They're Adamson's old friends from teenage years, and are now our neighbours who have similar aged kids. A month ago, we had our couple's night out as a weekend away in KL.

Pit stop in Malacca - Jonker Walk enroute to KL
Wan Tan Mee shop -127 Jalan Hang Jebat

Large portion because greedy. Actually I find their Wanton mee so so only.

Bibik House Chendol - 125 Jln Hang Jebat
If you like copious amounts of Gula Melaka ... which you can add on free flow.... this is the place for you.

The ice shavings... smooth like butter

After checking in to our hotel in KL - Le Meridien Petaling Jaya... we headed to our date night in the KLCC area.

Pre and post dinner drinks was at Marini on 57
It's an iconic roof top bar at Menara 3 Petronas
Cocktails were good... views were amazing... prices reasonable ah.
Especially beautiful views later in the night

Dinner was at Marble 8, same building

The same breath taking views...
This place is pricey, comparable to fine dining prices in Singapore but their service was top notch and the food quality was excellent.

Mmmm.. foie gras.  All the food was spot on. But Adamson said his steak was one of the best he's ever had.
Scallops

My lamb was succulent...

Dessert looked ok... I was too full to have any. Dunno this pic was of whose dessert lol.

Our hotel Le Meridien was nice and new. Around $150 sgd a night if I remember correctly. It is connected to Paradigm mall.  But if you're not driving, then just get a hotel around KLCC area.
Beautiful and clean and new room. That's the great thing about new hotels. It doesn't feel or look 'tired' or dated.
Loads of space and chic bathroom with separate shower.
The hotel's breakfast is really good ... by Malaysian hotel standards.
(Don't you find that usually Malaysian hotel breakfasts are not as good as other countries' similarly rated hotels?)
This one had good variety and it was set up like individual stalls for different cuisines. Cute.
I enjoyed bakar-ing my own bread to make kaya butter toast.
Apart from toast, this was all I had... and if you know me... usually hotel buffet breakfast.. my plate is piled with stuff I love. The food just wasn't that appealing to me.

All in all, we had a great getaway. The drive was smooth (thank you bubba for doing all of the driving...) and the company was great. Maybe the only thing I would do differently next time is NOT go through Woodlands checkpoint. The traffic jam OMG.
