Benihana Singapore

Last month, while Adamson and Myla were watching Wicked, MJ and I wandered around Suntec and Millenia Walk while waiting for their show to end. At Millenia Walk, we passed by a Benihana’s !

Although I had never set foot into any of their establishments before, I watched enough American films growing up to have heard of Benihana. It’s like one of my growing up pop culture icons 🤣.

On Valentine’s Day, our kids went to my parents’ for a sleepover and my bubba & I our fun hibachi date night at Benihana Singapore.

When you make reservations, there are 2 types of seating. One is regular table where you can order your ala carte dishes. The other is the chef’s table where you have 3 different course menus to choose from, with 3 different price points … think it was $78 for chicken, $98 for one seafood and one steak, $118 for 2 seafoods and one steak. Price is per person and of course must add the GST, service charge etc).

Spots at the chef’s table are limited but here’s where you get your fun and flaming hibachi chef cooking your food in front of you.

We had Chef Migs & he was so fun and engaging. Lots of flames, plenty of fun jokes and tricks… we were entertained from start to finish (that’s like a 2 hour meal).
The set courses include some chicken yakitori…

This egg thingy…. Don’t know what it’s called but yummy.

That’s Migs….
Onion soup….

Egg roll ….

My prawns were yummy, especially the tasty thick ass sauce made out of prawn heads.  Sooo flavourful. I tasted some of Adamson’s scallops and it was done perfectly. I came to Benihana for the novelty, to be honest, I had lower expectations for the food… so I was pleasantly surprised with the great quality and taste.

Both Adamson and I had the cod.  Have to say, it’s so so to me. Nothing bad, it’s moist and flaky. But whenever I eat cod outside, the flavour of it pales in comparison to the Miso cod which my bubba makes. 🤷🏻‍♀️
My steak was done medium rare, just the way I like it… it was a Japanese A4 wagyu. (There’s also a choice of a Aussie wagyu if you prefer that) . Delicious.
By the time it came to fried rice, it was tasty but I was toooooo full (next time I’ll opt for one seafood instead of two).

Dessert was a light panacotta with caramel   Mmmmm. Perfect way to end the meal.

What a fun (and damn full) way to spend Valentine’s Day with my bubba. And Benihana’s didn’t disappoint, 10/10 first time experience for us. ❤️
